Vintage Anemone Blush Wedding Cake

Wedding Cake Project Brief

Our customer wanted a cake along the vintage lines which was modern and not so detailled as the popular vintage cakes around. Our design was made to match some of the elements in their wedding decor, such as their use of hessian and the blush pink colours. The bride also wanted anemonies on the cake, and so we used some black piping detail on the cake to tie in the vintage theme and add balance to the black centers.

How We Made The Wedding Cake

Before we make the cakes, we work on the sugar flowers as these take many hours to create. We cut out individual petals and put them together to create a stunning flower. As our customer wanted a modern look, we baked a hexagonal cake for her top tier and an extended round cake for her bottom tier. Once the cakes were cooled, we filled and coated them in buttercream before covering them in a blush coloured sugarpaste. The cake was then stacked and left to set, to give it time to set up and provide a firmer surface for piping. Black royal icing was made up and an elegant designed was piped onto the two tiers of the cake. Dot details were added to provide a vintage look and attractive detail. Finally the anemonies were added to the cake as well as a hessian bow to offset to the side to complete the design.
