Simple Navy Wedding Cake
Wedding Cake Project Brief
This was a beautifully simple and elegant 2ft high cake. The Bride and Groom wanted something simple but with a "wow" factor for their wedding. They had a navy and blush pink theme and wanted something understated but detailed. Whilst the picture does it no justice, the bottom tier is actually covered in miniature royal iced dots in a blush pink colour, which matches the delicate swag piping work on the top tier.
How We Made The Wedding Cake
The sugar bow on this cake was all handmade and because of the size had to be made in stages and then dried before it was all put together on the cake. The cake was covered in white sugarpaste and a quilted pattern embossed into the cake. We then hand piped lovely little dots into each point in the quilted pattern to give it some eye catching details. The dots were piped to match the sway piping work on the top tier which was all piped by hand directly on to the cake.
Wedding Cake Ingredients
We used our traditional vanilla sponge with jam and buttercream. For our chocolate cake we use a chocolate fudge recipe filled with rich chocolate ganache.
