Roses and Birds Handpainted Wedding Cake
Wedding Cake Project Brief
Our customers wanted a vintage theme for their wedding. However they wanted a 'modern vintage' look with only some of the popular vintage elements and more clean lines. We came up with this cake design after discussing colours they are using for the day and matched the blue/green base of the cake to the colours on their invitations. We offered a hand painted design based on their lavender wedding flowers. The painted tiers kept the clean lines they wanted for the look of the cake, while still adding the floral details to keep it vintage looking.
How We Made The Wedding Cake
Any decorations we add to our cakes are made beforehand, so they have time to dry in advance and the cakes can be baked later to ensure freshness. Our birds were cut out and painted ready to be added to the cake. We baked and filled the cakes and covered them in a gorgeous soft blue/green coloured sugarpaste. The cakes are left to set and the sugarpaste to harden. We then stacked the cake and hand paint the roses on using specialist edible colouring. Once dry, the birds are added to the cake using royal icing and the cake is complete!
Wedding Cake Ingredients
Our chocolate fudge cake is filled with rich chocolate ganache. For the lemon and raspberry cake we add lemon and raspberries to our vanilla sponge and fill the cake with tangy lemon buttercream. Our vanilla and passionfruit cake is made using our vanilla sponge recipe with passionfruit filling.
