Mocha Pomander Wedding Cake
Wedding Cake Project Brief
Most brides want whites and pinks for their wedding cakes, however our bride wanted her cake to match in with the sash on her wedding dress and the bridesmaids dresses. We designed this mocha coloured cake, using different hues on the tiers and in the flowers to add some eye catching details.
How We Made The Wedding Cake
For the most part, this cake is quite simple and so the majority of the work was in getting clean edges on the cakes and making and colouring the flowers. We cut out and shaped over 100 small filler flowers which were then individually dusted and left to dry. We then baked the cakes freshly in the shop and left them to cool before filling and covering in sugarpaste. We add the details such as a painted pearl shimmer effect to the tiers. Once dry we used royal icing to add all the sugar flowers to the cake, spacing them randomly to mix the colours and using lots of small flowers to infill any spaces. Finally we added a stunning floral pomander on top and completed the look of the cake with a long draping bow and diamante brooch.
Wedding Cake Ingredients
For this cake we used our fudgy chocolate sponge filled with rich chocolate ganache and salted caramel sauce. The top tiers are our traditional vanilla recipe filled with jam and buttercream.
