Rockabilly Pin Up Wedding Cake
Wedding Cake Project Brief
Our bride wanted a twist on the traditional wedding cake. She still wanted her cake to look bridal and suitable to a more traditional wedding, however wanted to include some of the couples rockabilly and pin up interests. With just a few statement details, this cake shows how a theme can be incorporated into the design and enhance it, without it looking like a novelty wedding cake. The ivory base of the cake suits bright pops of red and the white scroll work stands out in a subtle way, showing off the wedding date. Large red flowers ties into the theme as well as keeping the cake suited to a wedding celebration.
How We Made The Wedding Cake
Our extra large details on this cake had to be made ahead of time to make sure they could set firm enough for application to the cake. We make all our flowers by placing individual petals together to mimic a rose. They are then glittered using specialist cake glitters and are set aside to set. Our sexy pin up lady was made using specialist paste and our modeller crafted all her details individualy before finally assembling her on to the cake. A large heart was also made using a polystyrene dummy and covering it in bright red sugarpaste. We bake our cakes after the models are made to ensure freshness and for this cake, we bake twice as many cake which will stack together to create a large extended tier cake. They are covered in an ivory sugarpaste and stacked. Once set, we add the details onto the cake in an attractive design. Finally we add on the scroll work and the cake is complete!
Wedding Cake Ingredients
We add raspberries to our vanilla mix and lemon zest to perk it up, it is filled with tangy lemon buttercream. The chocolate cake is a fudgy chocolate sponge filled with a rich chocolate ganache. Finally, our coconut cake is a coconut sponge also filled with rich chocolate ganache.
