Pearls and Lace Wedding Cake
Wedding Cake Project Brief
Our customer wanted the vintage look for her cake. The theme of the cake was to include lace and pearl accents as well as large roses and gerberas to match her wedding decor. Unsure how to match to her decorations exactly, rather than using sugar, we used the brides own decorations to match perfectly. This cake shows that not all decorations need to be edible, often we use craft items, fruit and fresh flowers to decorate a cake. This can help maximise your budget and ensure that your cake matches exactly with your theme if you love a particular lace or ribbon. It also means that you can have a larger cake, instead of using up your budget on sugar work - more cake for everyone!
How We Made The Wedding Cake
Our cake was baked fresh in the shop and covered in a lovely ivory sugarpaste. Once perfected, our cakes are then stacked with an internal support system and are ready for decorating. Our bride had already given us all the lace and decorations for the cake and so using the sketch of the design, we added them one by one building up the design. Lace ribbon was added around the bottom of each tier and the pearl beading was draped over the front of the cake to cascade down the layers. Finally we added the large flowers over the cake to complete the design.
