Wedding Cake Project Brief

Our customer wanted a cake which showed off her love for water lilies. Unsure how to go about this we suggested a unique approach to the bottom tier and a hand-painted middle tier, to show off the flower. Working together, we came up with this gorgeous design and enhanced the cake by making the bottom tier to look like an opening flower. This design is eye-catching yet still soft and romantic due to its pastel colour scheme. Each tier has something different to look at!

How We Made The Wedding Cake

We used a traditional three tier design for this cake, however made it look more modern by extending the tiers. Next we worked on the petals which we created before the cake was baked and fixed them to the cake with royal icing. Over 100 petals were made and attached to the cake over a series of days to give it an opening look!!! Some petals were wired to create our large lily topper. Our cakes are baked in our kitchen and cooled before being filled and stacked. We first painted the middle tier using edible paints, these we painted free-hand and from imagination. We slightly dusted the top tier in a muted green and finally attached to the top flower to complete the cake.

Wedding Cake Ingredients

Our white chocolate and raspberry cake is a vanilla sponge with raspberries, filled with creamy white chocolate and ganache. For the lemon and raspberry cake we add lemon and raspberries to our vanilla sponge and fill the cake with tangy lemon buttercream.
