Wedding Cake Facts
Our lovely Bride and Groom came in with some very artistic invitations which they had been inspired by and asked us to recreate the design onto their wedding cake, with the addition of some contemporary flowers.
As the design was fairly artistic yet simple we decided to make the cake a little more interesting by using different shaped cakes with the addition of a separator to give the cake some extra height.
The cake was hand painted in black to match with the customers design. To make sure the gold stood out a little more we rounded strips of icing and then painted in edible gold food paints.
The flowers were very simple and a more artistic interpretation than the type of flowers we usually do. We coated these flowers in an edible purple dust so that their matt texture would have a different finish to the hand painted details.
This cake was to be used as a dessert, with that in mind we were asked to come up with flavours that would work well when served with either cream or ice cream. We agreed that a rich caramel apple cake would work well as the bottom tier. With a rich chocolate fudge cake filled with chocolate ganache for the third tier. The remaining top two tiers consisted of vanilla and raspberry cake filled with white chocolate ganache.
